MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that a 44-year-old Valhalla man was arraigned Thursday on felony and misdemeanor crimes relating to sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl.
Robert Okamura, residing at the Grasslands Homeless Shelter at 25 Operations Drive, was accused by investigators from the High Technology Crime Bureau of the Westchester County District Attorneys Office of attempting to engage in the sexual acts. Authorities said Okamura was involved in multiple conversations through a cell phone with an investigator from the crime bureau that was posing as the young female. On December 14, he allegedly arranged a meeting with the supposed girl to engage in sexual activity at a Westchester County motel where he was met and arrested by investigators.
The conversations with Okamura began on November 27. In 2007, Okamura was convicted of an attempted criminal sexual act in the first degree with an 11-year-old female, a class C felony. He was sentenced to 42 months in a state prison and was released on parole.
On Thursday, Okamura was charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree, a class E felony, and one count of attempted rape in the first degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He is currently being held on $100,000 bail at the Westchester County Jail. If convicted, he faces a maximum of four years in prison. His next scheduled court date is January 5, 2012.
