VALHALLA, N.Y. Westchester Community College held its Sixth Annual Sports Hall of Fame Induction last month, honoring four outstanding former student athletes or individuals who have had an impact on the colleges athletic program.
WCC's Athletic Director Larry Massaroni, served as the master of ceremony to more 100 guests who attended the annual event in New Rochelle.
This year's honorees were:
Dr. Joseph Hankin, President of Westchester Community College. Dr. Hankin is celebrating his 40th year at the helm of the college and has been a major supporter of the athletic department.
Kristine Carosella (Port Chester), former All-Star pitcher for the softball team. Carosella, who pitched for the 1980 Region XV championship team, went on to play for Iona College.
Michael Young (Mt. Vernon), who started for the 1971 Mt Vernon High School team. Young was also an outstanding track athlete who played for the Vikings before transferring to Manhattan College and returning to WCC as an assistant coach.
Donald Weigand (Yonkers), who recently appointed as Westchester Community Colleges Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs and was a key figure in the development of the colleges football team in the 1970s.
