The new contract affects more than 1,500 nurses who work at the hospital, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, serving patients from the seven-county Hudson Valley region and beyond.

“After years of meetings and negotiations, the nurses at Westchester Medical Center are pleased to have settled our contract—a contract that recognizes the dedication and hard work that our nurses provide to all patients,” said Claire Maggio, acting president, of the Local Bargaining Unit. “We commend Westchester Medical Center, not only for a contract that is fair and equitable but one that also allows for a broader collaboration between administration and nurses in order to reach our common goal of providing advanced care, while continuing our mission as a public hospital.”

The 11-year contract resolves issues involving salaries and benefits. It allows WMC to better attract, recruit and retain nurses for its patients.

“We are eager to begin a new chapter of partnership and collaboration with a common vision of providing the finest care to the region’s most critically ill and injured children and adults, and advancing care here for the three million people of the region that we serve," said Michael D. Israel, president and CEO of WMCHealth.

This agreement comes on the heels of contract ratifications between NYSNA and management at hospitals across the state affecting tens of thousands of nurses.
