Shaffer reflects on his career with Letterman, discussing how they met, how they worked so well together for so many years and what life will be like after the show ends in a new interview with the New York Times.

Shaffer, 65, has worked with Letterman as the bandleader for 11 years on NBC’s “Late Night” and for 22 years on CBS’ “Late Show,” according to the report.
