Mary D’Onofrio is suing White Plains-based Mother of God With Eternal Life and its president, Pasqualina Fontana for $1 million, according to a Westchester Business Journal report filed over the weekend, stating that she was coerced into donating three houses to the organization.
According to the report, Fontana made deceptive statements from 2007 through 2017 that induced D’Onofrio to transfer property, houses and money to her. She allegedly transferred a home to Mother of God With Eternal Life in December 2011, before transferring property in Florida the following month. D’Onofrio proceeded to transfer two other houses to the charity before 2015.
The lawsuit was reportedly filed on Feb. 22 in Westchester Supreme Court.
No money changed hands during any of the transactions. D’Onofrio is claiming that she lost $1,059,329 from the transfers to the charity. The report states that during the time between the first and final transaction in 2015, Mother of God With Eternal Life raised more than $1.5 million in contributions.
