Work On New I-95 Traffic Pattern Will Result In Delays, Closures

The Thruway Authority announced Thursday that the northbound and southbound lanes on I-95 (New England Thruway) at exit 15 (New Rochelle) will be shifted into a new configuration as a part of the rehabilitation of the Kings Highway Bridge.

The work is scheduled for Thursday night beginning at 11:00 p.m. until Friday at 5:00 a.m., and again on Friday beginning at 11:00 p.m. until Saturday at 5:00 a.m.

This work is part of the $58.7 million New England Thruway concrete restoration project and involves shifting the northbound and southbound lanes back into a winter configuration, eliminating the major traffic shifts currently in place.

Motorists can expect lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages in the northbound direction Thursday night and in the southbound direction on Friday night to allow for installation of the traffic shift.

In case of inclement weather, the work may be postponed.

Electronic signboards and Highway Advisory Radio (530 AM) will update motorists about expected delays.
