MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Dorothy Helen Maiden, a longtime Mount Pleasant resident, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015. She was 83.
Maiden was born on Aug. 8, 1931, to Harry and Frances Groen in Yonkers. She worked for the Town of Mount Pleasant for almost 40 years, approving the construction of many of the buildings in the area.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Maiden Sr., in 1997, and is survived by her children, Arthur Maiden Jr., Richard Ernest Maiden and his wife, AnneMarie, of Thornwood, and Dawn Frances Hardwick of Holmes; two sisters, Evelyn Mellor and Beatrice Pison and her husband, Michael, of Florida; and three grandchildren, Jesse Vaughn Maiden, Alyssa Ann Maiden and Savannah Leigh Hardwick.
Visiting hours will be at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Hawthorne Dutch Reformed Church on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the church cemetery in Hawthorne.
