Edward J. Gurka, 83, Chemical Technician At EM Industries In Hawthorne

MONTROSE, N.Y. - Edward J. Gurka of Montrose died Dec. 14. He was 83.

Gurka was born July 16, 1931, in Yonkers, to Michael and Jean Kumanga. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a chemical technician at EM Industries in Hawthorne. He was a member of the American Legion Post 506 in Ossining and also belonged to the Moose Lodge.

Gurka is survived by his sisters, Linda M. (James) Adler-Esper and Joan F. (Pat) Viggiano; brother, Donald F. (Becky) Gurka; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his  sisters, Josephine T. DiPasquale and Barbara F. Tighe.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
