THORNWOOD, N.Y. – Frank Yerks of Mount Kisco, and formerly of Thornwood, died June 12. He was 88.
Born Jan. 3, 1924, in Pleasantville, he was the son of Franklin and Annie Yerks. A tile setter, Yerks owned Frank Yerks Tile for many years. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army in the Europe Theater and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Yerks was a member of the Gilbert Rauh American Legion Post 1574 in Thornwood.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth See; and four brothers, Clifford, Donald, Mel and Ralph. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fern Bogert Yerls; a son, Frank Yerks, of Pleasantville; a daughter, Catherine (Michael) Brady, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Albert Yerks, of Virginia, and William Smith, of Florida; a sister, Dorothy Tompkins, of New York; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Beecher Funeral Home in Pleasantville. There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
