Harry Saglibene, 87, Longtime Thornwood Resident

THORNWOOD, N.Y. – Harry Saglibene, a longtime Thornwood resident, died Sept. 15 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 87.

Born March 26, 1925, in Vineland, N.J., he was the son of Rosario and Carmella Ventura Saglibene. He proudly served in the Army Military Police in the European Theater from 1943-46.

Saglibene retired as a lieutenant with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation after 37 years. He was the proprietor of Thornwood Fence Company.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nita Clark Saglibene; three children, Marsha (John) Zumbach, Carolyn (Manuel) Tovar and Jeff (Terry) Saglibene; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Angie Celona, of Thornwood, and Rose Campanella, of Briarcliff.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Beecher Funeral Home in Pleasantville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Pleasantville.
