James F. Roche, 81, Of Valhalla

VALHALLA, N.Y. – James F. Roche, of Valhalla, died Saturday, July 25. He was 81.

Roche was born on April 15, 1934, in New York City to Edward Roche and Anne Burke.

He earned a bachelor's degree in science from Fordham University in 1959 and taught English and grammar for 32 years at PS 45 Junior High School in the Bronx.

Roche was predeceased by his parents and a grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sister Patricia, and seven children, James and his wife, Elizabeth, Virginia Escobedo and her husband, Peter, Patricia Kreamer and her husband, Peter, Kathleen Diemoz and her husband, Timothy, John and his wife, Mary, Lawrence and his partner, Rocio, and Michael and his wife, Patricia, and 15 grandchildren.

Visiting hours are at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
