Jean K. Dickie, 89, Formerly Of Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. – Jean K. Dickie, a 50-year resident of Hawthorne, died on Saturday, April 11, at her residence at the Birches in Newtown, Pa., after a long battle with cancer. She was 89.

Dickie was born and raised in Queens, N.Y., to Marie Louise and William Krockta.

She graduated from Bayside High School in Queens and worked as an executive secretary for General Motors Acceptance Corporation and the Conservation Foundation in New York City.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Louise Wallace and her son, George M. Dickie III; her son-in-law, Kevin Wallace of Buckingham, Pa.; daughter-in-law Linda Dickie of Gansevoort; three grandchildren, Matthew, Aileen and Brendan Wallace and her sisters-in-law, Jane Krockta of St. James, and Joan Dickie of Washington, D.C.

She was predeceased by her husband, George M. Dickie Jr. and brother, Harry Krockta.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hawthorne Funeral Home.

A funeral mass will be at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.

Memorial donations in Dickie's name can be made to Gentiva Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
