Karl Burghart, 72, Retired Banker, Of Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. – Karl H. Burghart of Hawthorne died suddenly on Feb. 2. He was 72.

He was born Feb. 3, 1940, in New York City to Ernst and Bertha Wacker Burghart. He was a retired banker with Citibank in New York City.

Burghart is survived by his wife, Nona Lee Coleman Burghart, of Hawthorne; three sons, Karl Burghart, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., James (Marion) Burghart, of Berne, N.Y., and Jeb (Shannon) Burghart, of Greensboro, N.C.; three sisters, Barbara Feeney and Elizabeth Burghart, both of Pleasantville, and Nancy (Tebo) Haviland, of Warren, Maine; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hawthorne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
