HAWTHORNE, N.Y. – Nicola Turturro of Hawthorne died Nov. 23 at his home. He was 81.
He was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Giovinazzo Bari, Italy, to Michael and Vincenza Volpicella Turturro. He was a retired construction worker with Local 235 of the Laborers International Union in Elmsford.
Turturro is survived by his wife, Angela DeBiase Turturro; a daughter, Anna (Edward) Burns of Hawthorne; a brother, Vincenzo (Anna) Turturro of Mount Vernon; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo and Giuseppe Turturro; and a sister, Dora Fiorentino.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
