William T. Keon, Jr., Former White Plains Resident, 91

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- William T. Keon, Jr., former White Plains/Hartsdale resident, died on Friday, June 6 in Stuart, Fla.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1922 in New York City and eventually moved to the White Plains/Hartsdale area.

He married the former Jane E. Balletto of White Plains. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy Seabees.

Keon, Jr. enjoyed a long career in real estate, eventually opening his own company, Keon and Company. He was past president of the White Plains Realty Board, past director of the Westchester County Realty Board, a life member of the Elks Club, past president of the Valhalla Kiwanis Club and past Commodore of the Hidden Harbor Boat Club. Upon retirement, Keon, Jr. and numerous friends from the Valhalla/White Plains area moved to Stuart, Fla. where he volunteered for almost 20 years at Martin Memorial Hospital. As an avid boater, he and his wife made 29 trips on the inland waterway between Florida and New England delivering yachts. Keon, Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Jane E. Keon, and his son, William T. Keon III. He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Ken) Dunne Crider of West Springfield, Va.; his daughter-in-law, Patricia Keon of Coral Gables, Fla.; his grandchildren, Kristine (Chris) Dunne Maher of Alexandria, Va.; Michael J. Dunne III of New Brunswick, N.J.; Kathleen (John) Dunne O’Leary of Annapolis, Md.; Suzanne (Wil) Dunne Henderson of South Bend, Ind.; Tait (Michelle) Keon of Pinecrest, Fla.; Ryan (Lissety) Keon of South Miami, Fla. and Terence Keon of Newport Beach, Calif. He also is survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Mary Kate, John Jr., Claire and Jennifer Rose O’Leary; William, Karolyne and Jack Henderson; Ella and Cole Keon; and William Keon. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church at 2 Broadway in Valhalla, New York with interment immediately following at Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave. in Valhalla.
