VALHALLA, N.Y. – Winifred J. Kohany of Valhalla died Feb. 5. She was 90.
Kohany was born Sept. 13, 1922, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Thomas and Anne Maloney. She married John Kohany on Oct. 18, 1947, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel. She was a long time parishioner and member of the Holy Rosary Society at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla.
She worked for B. Altman and Co. in White Plains and was a member of American Legion Post 1038 in Valhalla. Kohany was an avid reader and also enjoyed outdoor winter sports earlier in her life.
Her husband died in 1961.
She is survived by a brother, Thomas Maloney; four children, Judith (Michael) Marks, John Kohany, Patricia Kohany and Michael (Lori) Kohany; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by eight siblings.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
