State police said they were called to a local bank in the Montgomery region on Wednesday, Jan. 18 where they say Alexandria S. Clarke passed a fictitious check which was purported to be a payroll check from a hospital in Dutchess County.
Had Clarke succeeded in cashing the fraudulent check she would have defrauded the financial institution out of an amount exceeding $1,000 dollars, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
Clarke was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree (a Class D felony) and attempted grand larceny in the fourth degree (a Class E felony).
She was arraigned in the Village of Walden Court on Wednesday and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash/$15,000 bond. She is due back in the Town of Montgomery Court on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
