Car Smashed With Cinder Block In Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Mount Pleasant police are investigating the vandalism of a Pleasantville homeowner's vehicle that occurred over the weekend.

A resident of Lake Street in Pleasantville reported about 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, that a gray Mazda was damaged by a cement cinder block. Police said the block appeared to have been hurled at the car, denting the top of the trunk before smashing through the rear windshield.

The car was parked in the homeowner's driveway. Police said the vandalism was likely done overnight.

No damage estimate was available, and no arrest has been made. 

The following items also were reported by Mount Pleasant police:

DWI: Brandon Bell, 20, of Newburgh was charged Sunday, Jan. 13, with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. Police said an officer on patrol found Bell asleep at the wheel of his car about 3:50 a.m. while it was parked and idling on the side of Edgewood Avenue in Thornwood.

School Fight: Police responded to a fight about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls High School in Hawthorne involving multiple students. After the fight was broken up, police arrested a 16-year-old student on charges of criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor. Police said the student was found choking a staff member of the school. The student will be charged as an adult, police said.

Criminal Mischief: Police responded to an incident at the Hawthorne Cedar Knolls High School about 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11. A 17-year-old female student was charged with felony criminal mischief. Police said the student intentionally damaged a water cooler, microwave oven and exit sign in a room at the school.
