Construction Worker Struck, Killed In Hudson Valley

A 58-year-old construction worker was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 207 in Orange County while cleaning up from a paving job, according to the New York State Police.

James Demmer of Monticello was struck around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday near 3317 Route 207 in Goshen by an unidentified person driving a 2016 Journey, said New York State Police Spokesman Steven Nevel.

Demmer was cleaning up after performing a paving job in the area and the conditions were dark and rainy, Nevel said.

The driver was not impaired and the victim was wearing dark clothing at the time he was struck, he added.

Demmer was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An investigation into the incident is continuing.
