Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office obtained a detainer for Michael M. Grayson, 53, so that he can be returned to New Jersey once he is released from the New York jail.
A second suspect was also being sought, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Friday.
Both had stolen the victim's identification, which Grayson used to produce a forged driver's license, Grewal said.
Grayson first went to the Capital One branch in Englewood, where he withdrew $9,000 from the victim’s account, then went to the same bank's Cresskill branch but failed, the prosecutor said.
The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification lifted latest fingerprints from the second branch that matched Grayson's he said.
Grewal's detectives charged him with identity theft, theft by deception and conspiracy.
Grewal thanked the Englewood and Cresskill police departments for their roles in the investigation and arrest.
