A 28-year-old area man was caught reporting lawn equipment he received as stolen before trying to sell them online, state police said.

In October of 2017, Southeast resident Ryan Sanabria reported recently delivered lawn equipment as stolen. The delivery company paid Sanabria for a total loss in the amount of $2,400.

Months later, the stolen items were found listed for sale online. Investigation determined the seller was Sanabria attempted to sell his previously reported stolen property.

On June 1, troopers from the Brewster barracks arrested Sanabria and charged him with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, both Class E felonies, and falsely reporting an incident.

Sanabria was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Southeast Court on Thursday, June 7.
