Man Charged In Westchester Church Break-In

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A man that was busted in Bronxville attempting to steal an elderly woman’s purse is facing additional felony charges in Greenburgh following a similar incident earlier this month.

Detectives in Greenburgh arrested 34-year-old Bronx resident Anton Nrecaj - who was already remanded to the Westchester County Jail following his July 21 arrest for the Bronxville burglary - on July 25, charging him with third-degree burglary stemming from an incident at Our Lady of Shkodra Church in Hartsdale.

According to police, at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, Nrecaj entered the church on West Hartsdale Avenue through a locked exterior door and began to search for money when the alarm activated and he fled the scene.

Nrecaj has been arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court and remanded back to jail. Police said that he has one prior felony and misdemeanor conviction on his record.

Greenburgh detectives are also investigating a burglary that occurred at Our Lady of Shkodra Church that took place on Tuesday, June 27. Anyone with information can contact police by calling (914) 989-1732.
