Scott McMahon was driving his 2017 Aprilia motorcycle shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 on the parkway near exit 8 (Route 100/Route 133) in New Castle when he fatally crashed after reportedly striking a sedan and losing control.

Police said that the initial investigation into the crash determined that a 2006 Mercury was driving southbound on the Taconic State Parkway when it made a lane change, which is when McMahon struck the rear of the vehicle, forcing him to lose control of the motorcycle and strike the center median, ejecting him off the seat.

According to police, a doctor who happened to be driving by the crash scene stopped and administered emergency care to McMahon until paramedics arrived to treat him. McMahon was transported to the Westchester Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Anyone that witnessed the crash, or who has information regarding the crash has been asked to contact the New York State Police Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation by calling (914) 769-2600 and referencing case number 8209146.
