Motorist Killed When Car Crashes Into Pole In Hudson Valley

A 25-year-old man was killed in an overnight single-vehicle crash in Dutchess County.

According to New York State Police, Amilcar De Martinez Palma, of Poughkeepsie, died around 1 a.m. Tuesday near Stonykill Road in the town of Wappinger.

An initial investigation suggests vehicle De Martinez Palma's 2008 Nissan Sentra, was southbound just south of Stonykill Road when for unknown reasons failed to maintain its lane, and exited the roadway onto the west shoulder and struck a utility pole, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

 De Martinez Palma was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, he added.

The New York State Police were assisted on scene by Chelsea Fire Department, EMStar, and Central Hudson Gas and Electric.
