On Wednesday, police issued an alert and reminder to residents to always lock their cars and to never leave keys or key fobs inside an unoccupied vehicle.

According to police, Mount Pleasant detectives are currently investigating three stolen cars that have since been recovered, and multiple cases in which property was stolen from unlocked vehicles overnight last week from Westchester Avenue, near Thornwood.

Detectives have recovered property from suspects in those cases and police are asking any other potential victims to step forward and report any missing property - regardless of value - as the investigations continue. Those looking to report missing property can contact police at (914) 769-1941 and ask to speak with a detective.
