Hartsdale resident Daniel Siino, 28, was pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center after the stabbing, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on the Taconic State Parkway in Mount Pleasant, according to police.
Christian A. Walczyk, a 21-year-old Dutchess County man, has been charged with manslaughter in the incident after stabbing Siino in the chest, police said.
After being stabbed, Siino returned to his vehicle and his passenger began driving him to the hospital while contacting 911, police said. EMS and state troopers subsequently located and rendered aid to Siino before he was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.
Walczyk, who had also left the scene and called 911 was located nearby and taken into custody without incident, police said. Walczyk was charged with one count of manslaughter in the first degree, a Class B felony, arraigned in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Walczyk is a screenwriter/video editor who graduated from Arlington High School in Lagrangeville and attended the Universiy of Vermont.
The State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Mount Pleasant Police Department, the Briarcliff Manor Police Department and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
