Shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday morning, Ossining resident Erica Farland, 27, was driving the wrong way on Route 15 in New Haven, when she struck a 53-year-old Long Island City resident head-on, sending both to the hospital, police said.

According to police, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Farland was traveling northbound in the southbound left lane on Route 15, near exit 59 (Route 63 / Route 69 – Woodbridge, New Haven), when she collided with her victim’s Audi A6.

Both motorists sustained “serious, life-threatening injuries” and were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where they died from their injuries, police said.

The accident remains under investigation, according to police, who noted that Route 15 is a “two-lane limited access highway with clearly marked travel lanes and a posted speed limit of 55 mph.” Anyone with information regarding the crash has been asked to contact Connecticut State Police at (203) 393-4200.
