Adelso Cruz, 32, was charged with felony possession of a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon after the girlfriend called police around 10:20 p.m..from her Bedford Hills home on Rome Avenue, said Lt.Thomas Diebold.

The woman, 37, told police that two began arguing after Cruz came home drunk, and he jerked her by her arm, then grabbed her by the hair and began hitting her in the face and head with the boot, Diebold said.

"The woman said she must have lost consciousness and woke up injured on her bed," he said.

Cruz was arrested immediately after officers saw the condition of the woman, saying the victim and the bed were covered in blood and she had severe pain in her arm. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for the treatment of her injuries, he added.

Officers also notified child protective services officials after finding a young girl under the age of 10 in the home at the time of the attack, Diebold said.

Cruz is no stranger to police, Diebold said he had been arrested and deported to Guatemala in the past.

The victim was given a protective order by a judge against Cruz.

He is being held at the Westchester County jail on $25,000 bail. Diebold said they are hoping to settle the local case before he is "scooped up" by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and deported again.
