MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Hurricane Sandy caused several Mount Pleasant roads to close Monday afternoon, Mount Pleasant Police said.

Lakeview Avenue in Valhalla closed between Columbus Avenue and Colonial Lane due to downed wires. Commerce Street in Thornwood closed in both directions near Hancock Place Monday afternoon due to downed wires, Mount Pleasant Police said.

It has not been determined when the road will be re-opened.

Residents are advised to stay indoors due to Hurricane Sandy as Mount Pleasant is currently in a state of emergency.

Residents should stay away from downed wires at all costs and report them immediately to the Mount Pleasant Police Department at 914-769-1941. 911 should only be called in the event of an emergency.
