Shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to the area of Marshall Road, near Ridge Drive, following reports of a suspicious vehicle that was occupied by two suspects.

Upon the officer’s arrival, one of the suspects pointed a gun, and started shooting at the officer, who returned fire. The officer - who was from the 3rd Precinct, and whose name has not been released - was struck in the face by gunfire and rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where police said she was listed in serious, but stable, condition.

Police said that two suspects were taken into custody at the scene, with one suspect transported to a local hospital for gunshot injuries sustained during the incident. He’s been listed in serious, but stable condition. The second suspect is in police custody.

As police continue the investigation, Marshall Road, Ridge Road, between Marshall Road and Wendover Road, as well as Ridge Drive between Marshall Road and Madeline Parkway will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Tuesday.

According to police a gun was also recovered at the scene. No additional suspects are being sought at this time. The investigation into the shooting is in the early stages, police said, with detectives and investigators “working diligently.” More information is expected to be released on Tuesday.
