Sex Offender Moves Into Shelter In Valhalla

VALHALLA, N.Y. – Registered sex offender Tony Quiles, 35, is now living at the Grasslands homeless shelter in Valhalla, Mount Pleasant police reported Wednesday.

The Mount Pleasant police said they were notified by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety that Quiles had moved into Mount Pleasant.

Quiles was convicted in 1999 of third-degree rape, a class E felony, according to the county police. He currently lives at 25 Operations Drive, Valhalla, the location of the Grasslands homeless shelter. Quiles’ victim was a 16-year-old girl. He was arrested by the Mount Vernon police and was sentenced to five years and four months in prison before being released to the supervision of the Westchester County Department of Probation.

Quiles is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He has multiple tattoos on his abdomen. The state sex offender registry classifies him as a Level 2 offender, meaning the state considers him at moderate risk to offend again.

With Quiles’ registration, there are now 33 registered sex offenders living in Mount Pleasant.

DWI Arrest: New York State Police in Hawthorne arrested a Peekskill man Tuesday evening on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Johnson Foy, 56, was charged after being pulled over on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Mount Pleasant around 7 p.m. after he made an unsafe lane change, police said. Foy’s blood alcohol content at the time of the incident was 0.11 percent, according to police. He is scheduled to appear Aug. 9 in Mount Pleasant Town Court.
