Suspect With Stolen Gun Pleads Guilty To Fatal Shooting Of Peekskill Man

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A 25-year-old Peekskill resident pleaded guilty Monday to killing a man on Park Street in Dec. 2015.

Janiel Myke had been charged with manslaughter in the first degree (a Class B violent felony) in the shooting death of 22-year-old Stephen Agosto of Peekskill.

Myke shot Agosto three times with a stolen handgun in front of 1431 Park Street, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Agosto was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Myke was arrested two days later and police determined Agosto and Myke had had a long standing dispute, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office

An autopsy conducted by the Medical Examiner’s office revealed that the victim suffered a fatal bullet wound to the head and a bullet wound to each of his legs, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office

Myke will be sentenced next month and faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison.
