Taxi Fare Dispute, Suspicious Vehicle Tops North Castle Police Blotter

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Police intervention was required in Armonk when a resident attempted to run off on a $120 taxi fare.

The driver reported to the North Castle Police Department on Saturday, Dec. 9 that he had taken a man to a Wrights Mill Road residence and when the passenger exited, he said he would return with the fare.

After waiting for 40 minutes, police said the passenger did not return. Officers then proceeded to take the driver to the address and resolved the situation without further incident.

Other items on the North Castle Police Department blotter from Dec. 8 through Dec. 15 includes:

  • On Dec. 9, police were dispatched to High Street where there were reports of a driver who had crashed into a utility pole, forcing an airbag deployment. Police said the driver was treated for minor injuries and Con Edison was brought to the scene to repair damage to the pole.
  • A caller reported to police at approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday that a suspicious vehicle was attempting to enter the Whippoorwill Hills community. Police described the vehicle as a white rental truck with a Hispanic operator who did not know the gate code. Officers responded to the scene and made contact with the driver, who reported he was attempting to make a delivery and did not have the proper code.
  • Police said that a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle in front of her Washington Avenue home. She was treated for minor injuries.
