The fire began around 6 a.m. Saturday at Next Generation Towing and Service Center on Vredenburgh Avenue, after flammable materials in the back of a truck that had been towed to the business combusted and started a fire, said Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Ford.
The truck was located under a carport and the flames quickly spread to the side and roof area of the building, the chief said.
Fifty-five firefighters responded as the flames spread throughout the roof area.
Three firefighters received injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment, Ford said.
"They were all minor injuries," he added.
No one was at work at the service center at the time of the fire.
The building sustained extensive water and smoke damage, but Ford said the business should be able to reopen after repairs are made.
