At approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, patrol officers in Scarsdale reported that they observed a teenager - who was later identified as 19-year-old Orange County resident Sebastian Garcia - running down the driveway of a Montrose Road home with a package - taken from the from the front of the property - and entering a gray four-door sedan parked out front.

In the police report, officers stated that “the conduct of the party running to the vehicle was suspicious, given the larcenies and burglaries that have occurred in Scarsdale” in recent months. Police subsequently initiated a motor vehicle stop to investigate the suspicious behavior.

Police said that officers observed a large package in brown cardboard boxing in between the legs of Garcia and a second package behind the driver, which were both in plain view. Police reported that “all parties appeared very nervous,” denied knowing the resident at the Montrose Road home and stated they were “doing a school project on Donald Trump.” “The subjects appeared evasive and were stammering nervously,” police added.

The subsequent investigation determined that the package had been stolen from the Montrose Road home, and police arrested the teens.

In Scarsdale, Garcia was charged with misdemeanor counts of petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, as well as trespassing, a violation. He also had a warrant out for his arrest in a different jurisdiction for an undisclosed crime. White Plains residents Kevin Dominguez - the driver - and passenger Ailyn Morales, both 19, were also charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property for “acting in concert and aiding and abetting one another to steal the package.”

All three were issued appearance tickets and appeared in Scarsdale Village Court last week. According to Scarsdale Police Capt. Thomas Altizio, Garcia and Morales have since been arrested for stealing packages from homes in Rye Brook, noting that “the actions of the Scarsdale officer who arrested them for stealing packages (in the village), also resolved the same types of crimes in that community.”
