Astorino Campaign Releases Video Of Alleged Sign Swapping

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A video of people alleged to be volunteers of New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson's appearing to remove campaign signs for incumbent Rob Astorino is causing controversy in the race for Westchester County Executive.

The video appears to show two vans carrying young men, who look as if they are replacing signs. Astorino campaign spokesperson Bill O'Reilly said the video was sent to the Astorino campaign as a tip.

According to Astorino's campaign, more than 1,000 signs have gone missing, and hundreds of homeowners have made complaints about it.

Astorino told The Daily Voice he believes the video is evidence of systematic tampering by Bramson's campaign.

"This isn't a wayward volunteer, this is systematic. It borders on illegal and it's got to stop," he said.

When asked how he could be  sure they were campaign volunteers and not unaffiliated fans, Astorino said, "A fan wouldn't have a van of campaign signs for Noam Bramson."

He continued, "We tell all our of workers, repeatedly, we respect everyone's rights even if we disagree. Don't tamper with signs. We have gotten hundreds of calls and emails over the last three weeks from people who have had signs removed from their private property, which is trespassing."

Barry Caro, spokesperson for Noam Bramson's campaign, said he's never seen the men in the video before, and that this issue shouldn't matter to Westchester voters a week before the election.

"Rob's campaign seems to have an allergy to substance and an addiction to hyperbolic accusations that have little basis in reality," he said, "This is a big office with important responsibilities, so let's talk about what actually matters to Westchester voters: Who's going to fight for our values and who's going to grow and protect the middle class."

According to Caro, similar things have occurred to Bramson's signs, "since day one."

The original source of the video has not been released.
