WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Bruce Bendish, a Republican whose long been a criminal defense lawyer and Anthony Scarpino, a Democrat whose been a local, county and state judge, are vying to become the next Westchester County District Attorney, reported lohud.com
The race is the only countywide one on the Election Day ballot.
Bendish says having worked on "both sides of criminal cases" gives him a unique qualification, said lohud.com
He questioned whether a judge, who has not been a prosecutor, could have sufficient knowledge to run a prosecutor's office, according to lohud.com.
A former FBI agent and teacher of criminal law at Iona College, Scarpino said he's running not to be an "assistant district attorney," but to run the DA's office, said the report.
He said the best candidate would have the "broadest base of experience," for that job, lohud.com said.
