PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. ? Pleasantville poll worker Cathye Catalano said voters weren't deterred by the lack of heat or electricity Tuesday at the Pleasantville Emanuel Lutheran Church.

"People are here to vote," she said. "They don't care if there's no heat or power."

The steady line of voters at the church kept poll workers busy on Tuesday afternoon. More than 775 voters had already cast ballots by 3:30 p.m. Catalano reported only one problem: a machine broke and had to be taken out of service.

Polls will be open until 9 p.m. tonight.

More than 290 voters had made their way to the American Legion in Thornwood, a number poll workers said was the most they'd ever had.

Pleasantville poll worker John Fisher agreed that voter turnout was higher than normal.

"We've had a very large turnout," he said.

Fisher said the presidential election was the reason so many people were voting. Poll workers said they expected a larger after-work crowd.

Polls will be open at the following locations:

District 20 votes at the Thornwood American Legion.

Districts 19, 23 and 37 vote at the Hawthorne Elementary School.

Districts 31, 41 and 43 vote at Pleasantville Emanuel Lutheran Church.

At Town Hall in Valhalla, voting for Districts 11 and 26 takes place in the upper-level courtroom instead of the  lower-level courtroom as originally planned.

Residents can check on their polling place by going to the Westchester County Board of Elections website or by calling 914-995-5700.
