“Anything that can be done at this point has been done,” said Jim Perry, head of Pound Ridge’s Office of Emergency Management.

Perry said Emergency Managment members met Friday morning and are tracking the storm. He said the town Building Department inspected all construction sites.

“We checked to see if there was construction materials around that could be subject to high winds,” he said. “Anybody that had a pile of plywood lying around, it was secured.”

The Highway Department was told to make sure its storm-related equipment was ready.

“We want to make sure their chain saws are sharpened and that there is gas for the generators,” Perry said. “We told the Maintenance Department to do the same thing.”

Perry said the Pound Ridge Fire Department was also asked to make sure all its equipment was ready.

“The truck that carries our rescue boat was out of town for maintenance, so we went and got the boat and brought it back to Pound Ridge,” he said.

Supervisor Gary Warshauer said the town has posted an alert on its website, and he asks that residents check the site frequently for updates about the storm.

“Everyone who would participate has been put on notice, and our equipment is prepped and ready for anything coming our way,” Warshauer said. “... Historically these storms result in localized flooding and power outages. We are prepared for the possibility of that. Hopefully we won’t experience what we did last year.”

Warshauer said that if there are widespread power outages, the town will open Town House as a warming and dry-off center.

“NYSEG has generously provided bottled water and dry ice during past storms, and we would arrange to disperse that from the Town House,” he said. “Timings and availability will be posted on our website. We are using Twitter as well. If they can’t get online, people can call the Pound Ridge Police Department at 914-764-4206 for nonemergency information. For emergencies, of course, they should dial 911.”
