Carmel Man Stopped On Route 52 For Loud Exhaust Charged With Felony DWI

CARMEL, N.Y. -- A 29-year-old Carmel man is facing felony DWI charges after being stopped for driving with a loud exhaust on Route 52, state police said.

State police from the Brewster Barracks charged Ryan D. Williams with the Class E felony due to a previous DWI related conviction within the last 10 years.

Troopers stopped the vehicle Williams was operating Wednesday for having a loud, inadequate exhaust. Williams was found to be intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop, police and provided a breath sample that revealed a blood alcohol content of .10 percent, police said. 

Williams was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. He is scheduled to return to the Town of Carmel Court on July 26.
