Kress has taught French and Spanish at Briarcliff Middle School since 1997. Her strong command of the languages, as well as her engaging teaching style, have earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and students at the middle school. She has been with the district since the 1997-98 school year, after working for the Dobbs Ferry School District.

“Those who know Ms. Kress are not surprised by her selection; she is universally trusted and admired,” Superintendent James Kaishian said.

“Nancy’s nomination by parents, administrators and her teacher colleagues stood out for the Teacher of the Year Award,” said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kusum Sinha.

Kress credits the support of middle school Principal Susan Howard for her success in Briarcliff. “With your guidance and leadership, I have flourished and have really been able to enjoy perfecting my craft,” Kress said. “My job here at Briarcliff brings me daily joy and fulfillment.”

Since joining Briarcliff, Kress was elected to the board of directors of the New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers as director for the Westchester region. She is a team leader and former curriculum coordinator at the middle school, has served on numerous school committees and has consistently offered professional development for faculty.
