The interactive program was presented to grades six, seven and eight individually, utilizing slides and audio from the event, with stories of people who were impacted, and questions posed to the students.

It began with a timeline of the events of the morning of 9/11, with Vincent asking students to make observations, to recall lessons in social studies, to read, answer questions and come to conclusions.

Others who spoke included David Fink, chief of the Pocantico Hills Fire Department, who explained how Pocantico Hills, among hundreds of other departments, went in to cover for the NYC firefighters who were called away from their firehouses to work at the scene. There is a plaque at the local firehouse thanking our local firefighters for their service.

Interim Principal Adam Brown, who was working near Ground Zero also spoke. He described the terrifying scene as he and thousands of others were walking out of the city that morning seeking safety as the first responders were driving in.

“We have to remember how much goodness there is in people,” he said.
