The magazine showcases the best of Westlake in art, poetry and prose. Editors Chloe Burns, Jillian Cannata and Michael Fischer were the nucleus of Scrap Paper in the 2013-14 school year, and along with senior intern John Mittelman they selected the content, paired artwork with poetry and stories, taught themselves a computer layout program, then designed the 36-page magazine.

At the suggestion of adviser Donna Gelard, Burns researched literary publication contests and entered Scrap Paper in the ASPA contest. They were notified in December of their second place award.
