Valhalla's Mintiens Named Assistant Principal At Murray Avenue School

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Rebecca V. Mintiens was appointed assistant principal for Murray Avenue School by the Mamaroneck Board of Education.

She will take over on Monday, July 14 from Cruz Soler, who retired at the end of June.

“My most recent internship gave me the chance to walk in the principal’s shoes and shadow her for an entire year,” Mintiens said.

“I’m thrilled about my new role at Murray Ave. School and am excited to immerse myself in the Larchmont-Mamaroneck community,” she said.

Mintiens lives in Valhalla with her 11-month-old son Avery and husband Christian.  Her original degree from Marywood University was in music and theater for children.

She continues to be an avid lover of the arts, and in her spare time Mintiens enjoys running, reading and spending time with her family.

Mintiens comes to Murray after nine years teaching early childhood education. She has master's degrees in early childhood education and deaf education from Columbia University’s Teachers College as well as a Columbia University graduate degree in school building administration.

As chairperson of the school leadership team at PS 859 Special Music School in Manhattan, Mintiens worked with parents, teachers and community members and benefited from a principal mentorship.

She also served as leader of several other committees, including the emergency response team and the inquiry team, which analyzed student data, test scores and teacher input to guide instruction and set rigorous goals for students.
