Repealing Common Core Would Cost State $280M, Study Says

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A group of businesses that support Common Core released a report on Tuesday, Oct. 28 that suggests repealing the new education standards would cost the state approximately $280 million, according to LoHud.com.

High Achievement New York's report says repealing Common Core would force the state to pay back a percentage of the  $700 million in federal funding that was brought in via the federal government's Race to the Top grant program, LoHud.com reported. 

Common Core has become a political football in the gubernatorial race. Republican hopeful Rob Astorino has made repealing the new standards one of the cornerstones of his candidacy. Officials from his camp say they do not support the numbers in the study, LoHud.com said.
