Southern Westchester Boces In Valhalla Celebrates Graduation

VALHALLA, N.Y. – Two hundred and sixty five students received degrees from the Southern Westchester BOCES Center for Career Services at the school's recent graduation ceremonyat the County Center in White Plains.

Students received degrees from the various career and tech programs on the campus in Valhalla.

One of the many speakers during the ceremony on June 11 was Thomas Calandrucci, owner of Sunset Cove Al Ponte in Tarrytown.

Calandrucci spoke of the lessons learned in the years since he received his BOCES Culinary Arts Program degree in 1991.

“The future is the culmination of the choices that we make," he said. "Set obtainable goals and never quit on yourself.”

The school handed out annual student awards, including the Advanced Career & Technical Education Outstanding Student Award and the Introduction to Career Trades Outstanding Student Award.

There were also awards given to celebrate previous BOCES staff members and board trustees.

The list included the Margaret Antonecchia Memorial Award, the Dree Atkins Memorial Award, the Donald B. Barbieri Memorial Award, the Elaine Barsich Memorial Award, the Ruth Bullwinkel Memorial Award, the Ollie Clark Memorial Award.
