Sculptures provided by the school district have been displayed in the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C for the last 43 years.
"It's a reminder that Briarcliff has a rich history," Superintendent James Kaishian said. "That history is our history and we are really proud of it. It really is kind of neat."
The sculptures, which depict justice and were designed by Adolph Weinman, were donated to the school district from Weinman's son, Robert, who was a resident of Briarcliff.
Kaishian said they don't get any money from the Supreme Court as part of the arrangement as they believe they are providing the public with a historical artifact.
"I think it is important," Kaishian said. "We're happy to be a part of it."
The superintendent said he has not been to the Supreme Court, but he appreciates knowing how Briarcliff's legacy is intertwined with the legacy of the Supreme Court.
