Three Pleasantville High Students Recognized For Art, Writing

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. --Three Pleasantville High School students have been recognized by the 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

The students were recognized at the regional level by The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition.

The competition is a prestigious recognition initiative for creative teens, and source of scholarships for young artists and writers.

Junior Violet Fearon received six awards in writing: 2 Gold Keys in Short Story (Henrietta) and Humor (Jesus Christ College Applicant), 2 Silver Keys, and 2 Honorable Mentions. Additionally, Henrietta was selected as one of five American Voices nominees from the Hudson-to-Housatonic writing region. 

Seniors, Jacob Butcher and Emily Harter, received a total of 10 awards in art. Emily was awarded a Gold Key for her Portfolio entry and also received seven individual awards: 4 Gold Keys in Painting, Printmaking, Mixed Media, and Ceramics and Glass, 2 Silver Keys, and one Honorable Mention. Jacob earned 2 Honorable Mentions.
