Seniors Christina Gerbosi, Joe Brown, Amy Rice, Kira Stern and Brandi Coon, alongside juniors Lucas van Bramer and Brianna Walls, were recognized at a Board of Education meeting in early May. "We are very proud of these students," said Principal Jon Thomas, who presented the students to the school board. The ACE program gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take college-level classes and earn college credits. If a student begins taking ACE courses as a junior at the high school, they could, in theory, enter college as a second-semester freshman credit-wise. Valhalla High School currently offers 12 ACE classes. They are college research and writing, college accounting, college algebra, college business calculus, college statistics, college computer science (I and II), college environmental science, college Spanish, college Italian, college drawing, and college painting. Next year, the school will also begin offering college musicianship and college music theory. "When our kids take college classes, they get the confidence like, 'Hey, I can do this,'" said Schools Superintendent Brenda Myers. "And that's great for our school district."
