The app, powered by Blackboard, gives the community the ability to access everything in one place.

“It’s critical to the district, parents and community members that we continuously increase our access to information,” said Schools Superintendent Brenda Myers. “Whether it’s a celebration, a budget update or a safety alert, it’s important to use technology to provide information to the public and continue the dialogue.”

The app is a centralized place for news, calendar items, contact information, sports, advocacy, resources, pictures, My Learning Plan, School Bucks, and the district’s several social media sites, among many other options.

Valhalla’s administrators  said they long have been advocates for integrating more technology into the district to keep up with the changing times that constantly include more web-based and mobile initiatives. In addition to providing technology-based education to students and technology-based professional development to staff, the app is an all-reaching tool that can be customized to suit each community member’s needs, officials said.

“We know that we live in a world where plenty of information comes from apps,” Myers said. “Valhalla’s new app now gives our community a new and more convenient way to view our information.”

To download the app, visit the Apple Store/iTunes or the Google Play Store and search for “Valhalla Union Free School District” or “Valhalla School District.” It is a free service and is available on iPhones and Androids.
